Meet the Focused Capital Team
CHAD SCHIELER​
​Founder & Principal
​
In his role, Chad leads the team in acquiring, funding, and managing their real estate investment projects. His conservative approach and analytical skills enable him to clearly assess risk and invest wisely to maximize client returns while preserving their principal investment.
​
Chad has built a strong network of real estate professionals and a trusted advisory panel. He has invested in over 1200 apartment units across the US, while owning/operating over 600 units and counting.
​After a very successful 17-year career in electronic payments building a residual revenue portfolio, Chad transitioned to real estate in 2020, driven by a desire to positively impact communities, improve investor financial health, and build a great company.
​
​Chad is recognized for his expertise, often speaking at real estate events and interviewed on many national podcasts. His decision-making is shaped by a private advisory panel, ensuring informed and strategic business growth.
​
​Chad resides in Fishers, IN with his wife Cynthia, daughter Mila, and son Truz. He enjoys many outdoor watersports, snowboarding, traveling and hiking.
JARED SHUM​
​Head of Investor Relations
​
Jared serves as Head of Investor Relations at Focused Capital, where he leads capital formation, investor strategy, and communications across the firm’s multifamily real estate platform. He is responsible for building and managing long-term investor partnerships, shaping the firm’s capital strategy, and aligning investor objectives with disciplined execution.
​
He brings a background in strategic partnerships, corporate development, and investor relations, with experience spanning real estate, fintech, and private investment. Jared has led capital initiatives, structured strategic relationships, and supported growth across multiple platforms, with a focus on clarity, alignment, and long-term value creation. His approach is grounded in a practical understanding of capital markets and a commitment to transparency and performance.

Jared earned his Master of Public Administration in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School and holds dual Bachelor’s degrees from Stanford University. Outside of Focused Capital, he serves as Head Coach for the University High School Swimming & Diving team and is passionate about alpine skiing, competitive swimming, and mentoring young athletes and entrepreneurs.
CHAD OLSEN
VP of Investments​
Chad Olsen brings a wealth of experience as VP of Investments, boasting a multifaceted background spanning real estate, finance, and military service.
At Focused Capital, Chad spearheads the entire acquisitions process from initial sourcing to property closing. His responsibilities include evaluating lending options, assessing construction scopes and budgets, and conducting comprehensive market analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessments. With his expertise, Chad provides invaluable recommendations to drive project feasibility.
Prior to his role at Focused Capital, Chad served as an acquisition manager at Thompson Thrift Residential, focusing on Luxury Class-A multifamily development projects across the western United States. There, he excelled in sourcing and underwriting potential development opportunities.
Chad's professional journey also includes a time at Alter Domus, an international fund consulting and corporate services provider, where he managed portfolios for numerous private debt funds. Before transitioning to civilian life, Chad demonstrated exemplary service in the United States Army, completing four deployments to Afghanistan as part of the 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment, Special Operations Command.
Chad is a father of two boys and one daughter with more to come. Enjoys the outdoors with his family, including hiking/camping, hunting, fishing, and traveling. An occasional golfer and pickleball player.
TRACI MUNDELL
Executive Assistant
Traci is an Executive Assistant with over fifteen years of experience and a passion for organization and a keen eye for detail. Traci helps to keep our operations running smoothly behind the scenes. Using her years of experience in executive support, she manages the day-to-day functions of the business, and excels in managing seamless communication.
Her goal is to empower the team to focus on strategic priorities while handling the administrative complexities. Traci and her husband Steve reside in Greenfield and have two boys, Jacob and Tyler. Outside of work, she loves to travel and is an avid sports fan.
She brings the executive level administration experience needed to be an integral part of the Focused Capital team, supporting the mission and company goals.
